Living in Southbourne
Southbourne is a relaxed suburb of Bournemouth and a beautiful area. Located next to the sea with sandy blue flag beaches, a quieter retreat than the bustling beaches further along in Bournemouth. In the main higher street, Southbourne Grove has a number of independent and interesting shops with numerous boutiques and coffee shops, popular with local residents.
South of Southbourne Grove is Grand Avenue, Southern Road, Stourcliffe Avenue and surrounding, tend to be large houses, B & B’s and Guest Houses, due to size of these properties, many have been converted into apartments and more recently replaced with modern luxury apartments. Superb Sea Views along Southbourne Overcliff. Going a road or two west is Fishermans Walk and into Boscombe Manor with Shelly Park Tennis Courts. Below Southbourne Grove are detached houses and very popular with families. Going east, Southbourne runs into Hengistbury Head and Tuckton.
The Green Flag award winning 2.4 hectares, Seafield Gardens. These gardens are an open space just a short walk from the beach, and a popular place for families, dog walking and a children’s play area, bowls, tennis facilities and a Grade II Listed red brick water tower.
The sandy beach is popular with families and is ideal for surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing, even paragliding is very popular here.
Situated between Buscombe and Christchurch, Southbourne provides a distinct community yet has a number of relaxed residential properties. Excellent views of the surrounding coast, as well as its own beach and Seafield Gardens make it a highly attractive place to live. Itisn’t short on localamenities either, as Southbourne Grove is one of the best-loved shopping streets in the Bournemouth area, with a wealth of retail opportunities. These include vibrant independent retailers, as well as bigger stores and options for dining-out. It’s proximity to a sandy and quieter stretch of coastline makes it an idyllic place to be.
