The government’s waiver of stamp duty on properties valued between £125,000 and £175,000 has been in place since September last year, but this is due to end on 31st December.
The average time for sales to go through is twelve weeks and many mortgage applications can take six to eight weeks from start to finish. So in effect, though buyers looking to purchase in this price bracket need to find by 30th September, saving them £1,250 - £1,750.
First time buyers have has a hard time climbing on to the property ladder and for these people, now is a great time, while the market is low and the large saving in paying tax, now is a golden opportunity to make a big saving.
